Scan verification
Section titled “Scan verification”The packer scans every item before completing the parcel’s fulfillment. Wrong and extra scans are refused. Buying or printing a shipping label is a separate step.
The pack checklist
Section titled “The pack checklist”What a parcel walks through between the scan and the fulfilment is the warehouse’s pack checklist, set under Settings → Fulfillment → Pack checklist (one per warehouse). Start from a preset — Just pack, Weigh + label or Proof photo — and set each step to Off, Optional or Required: a photo of the contents, the weight, packing details such as a seal number, a quality check, and the label before fulfilment. A required step must be done before the parcel can be fulfilled; the pack station lists what is still missing. The order’s packing note shows at the bench and on the floor before the parcel is sealed.
A parcel that fails its quality check goes to the damaged stock location (HOSP-01). Its units leave Shopify’s available at once as damaged, and the order is planned again from the stock that is still free. When an order is cancelled after packing, Floormode reads Shopify’s stock level for its items. If Shopify put the units back on sale, Floormode marks them as quality control until they are back on a shelf, so they can’t be sold from the bench. In Shopify’s inventory, units Floormode holds back this way count as unavailable and are listed under Managed by apps → Floormode, not in your own Damaged or Quality control count: Shopify keeps a state an app sets apart from the ones you set by hand. If Shopify didn’t restock them, they wait at the bench for you to check them.
Choosing the box
Section titled “Choosing the box”At packing, the app runs cartonizationCartonizationChoosing the cheapest suitable box for an order from your box catalog, using item dimensions — and splitting into several boxes where one will not do. Read more → : it picks the cheapest suitable box from your box catalog using the item dimensions, and splits into several boxes where one will not do.
This needs two things you set up once:
- Boxes in the catalog under Settings → Carriers & packaging — without them nothing can be cartonized.
- Item dimensions on your products — optional, but cartonization gets much better with them.
Weighing with a USB scale
Section titled “Weighing with a USB scale”The pack station can read the parcel weight from a USB scale. It works in Chrome or Edge, with a standard shipping scale (for example a Dymo M-series or a Mettler PS-series).
Click Connect scale next to the weight field and choose the scale once. The browser remembers it for the next parcel. A steady reading fills an empty weight field by itself. If you already typed a weight, the station offers Use scale weight instead and never overwrites what you typed.
When the reading is far from what the items and the box should weigh, the station shows Check the parcel with both numbers. It is a warning, not a stop. It stays quiet when an item in the parcel has no weight in the catalog. Give your boxes an Empty weight under Settings → Carriers & packaging, so the comparison counts the box too.
Pickup and local delivery orders
Section titled “Pickup and local delivery orders”An order the customer collects, or one you deliver yourself, needs no shipping label. Its pack station says Pickup order: no label needed or Local delivery order: no label needed.
- Mark ready for pickup tells Shopify the order is ready, and Shopify lets the customer know. The pack job shows Ready for the customer.
- Mark ready for delivery marks the parcel ready in Floormode only. Shopify has no way to take that step from an app, so you run the delivery from Shopify as usual.
A pickup or delivery parcel must hold everything the order still owes. Ship all never buys a label for such an order.
