Fulfillment settings

Settings → Fulfillment decides how work gets from an order to a person, and how that person packs it. Its first card, Work assignment, has three switches, all off until you turn them on.

  • Work assignment
  • Everything is opt-in
  • The other cards
  • Reached from where it matters

SwitchWhat it does
Auto-assign pick tasksAs soon as an order has its stock reserved, its pick goes to the least busy person who works in that zone, instead of waiting for someone to claim it.
Replenish pick bins automaticallyWhen a pick takes a pick bin below its minimum, a refill task tops it up from bulk stock.
Route orders with rulesYour routing rules choose which warehouse ships each order. Without a rule that fits, the nearest warehouse that has everything ships it.

When work reaches the floor is not a switch here: you decide it on the Release tab, wave by wave.

Worth knowing: if the queue is not handing out work, nothing is broken. That is the default, and this card is where you change it.

The page’s other cards include:

  • Pick profiles — named recipes for cutting pick batches: which orders, picked how, how many at a time.
  • Pack checklist — per warehouse, the steps every parcel goes through at the pack station before it is fulfilled: start from Just pack, Weigh + label or Proof photo, then set Photo, Weigh, Details, Check and Label to off, optional or required. See Pack.
  • Packing details — extra fields the packer fills in, such as a seal number.
  • Packing slip — what the printed slip in the parcel shows.
  • Delivery dates — read the delivery date your customers chose and pack each order on the right day. See Delivery dates.

Each switch is linked from the screen where you would notice you want it:

  • The queue links to auto-assignment.
  • Placement links to automatic refills.
  • The routing rules link back to the routing switch.

The routing rules themselves — which warehouse or dropship vendor ships an order — live under Automation. This card only decides whether they run at all.

  • Queue — auto-assignment in practice.
  • Placement — automatic refills in practice.
  • Release — when picking work reaches the floor.
  • Automation — the routing rules themselves.
