A binBinA specific place stock sits. Every bin has a type — receiving, quality check, quarantine, bulk, pick, packing, staging or returns — which tells the app how to treat what is in it. Read more → has a type, and the type is what tells the app how to treat what is in it:

TypeHolds
ReceivingGoods just booked in, awaiting putaway
Quality checkStock held for inspection
QuarantineDamaged or suspect stock, not sellable
Bulk storageReserve stock, not picked from directly
Pick binWhere pickers actually go
PackingAt the pack bench
StagingMarshalled for despatch or production
ReturnsGoods received back, awaiting grading

The bulk/pick split is what makes automatic refills possible: pickers only ever visit pick bins, and Placement tops those up from bulk.

Nobody types in four hundred bin names. The bulk location generator creates them from a pattern — a range of aisles, bays and levels becomes a full set of locations in one action.

The bins list is the flat view. The shape of the warehouse is set up on the warehouse’s Layout tab (Settings → Warehouses → your warehouse):

  • A template picker for common layouts.
  • A grid generator that creates hundreds of locations at once.
  • A 2D map you can colour-code by fill.
  • Zones, aisles, racks and shelves — or flat bins and floor positions for oversized goods.

Bins are scanned, so they need labels. Bin label printing is built into this tab, and works with the same PrintNode setup as shipping labels — or as a PDF you print yourself.

Label text supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters, including accented names. Other scripts and emoji show a message before printing. Enlarge the text box or reduce its type size if a name does not fit, then check the PDF before printing a batch. Barcode values are kept unchanged.
