Receipts

Receipts (/returns/receipts) is where a returned parcel becomes decisions. Every unit is graded as it arrives, and every unit gets a dispositionDispositionThe decision about where a returned unit goes once it has been graded: back to sellable stock, into damaged and quarantine, or written off. Each returned unit is inspected and recorded as sellable or damaged. Not the parcel — the unit.

DispositionMeans
Back to sellable stockRestocked. Available to promise again immediately.
Damaged & quarantineHeld out of sellable stock, in a quarantine bin, pending a decision.
Write offRemoved from inventory entirely, with the loss recorded.

Each of these posts a movement to the ledger, so a returned unit’s fate is as traceable as any other stock change.

A unit restocked here is reserved for a backordered order waiting on it, just as a supplier’s delivery would be. That order is then picked and packed as usual; nothing ships on its own.

When you Complete a receipt whose order has an approved return request, the dialog offers Refund approved return requests for the goods that came back, ticked by default. The refund, store credit or exchange then goes out as the receipt closes. Untick it and nobody is paid; the requests stay approved.

You approved the return when you had the context, so there is no second approval once the parcel is in your hands and graded. Returns that arrived without an approved request still need a human decision, and they wait for one.
