The setup flow

Until your first warehouse is live, Home is the setup guide, Your warehouses. Setup belongs to each warehouse: the guide lists every warehouse that is not live yet with its next step, and the warehouse page does the work. The store import runs by itself on the server and is reported in one line above the guide; you can close the page while it runs.

The first decision: your Shopify locations

Section titled “The first decision: your Shopify locations”

The guide starts by asking Which Shopify locations do you pack orders from? Locations that fulfil online orders and hold stock come first as suggestions; stores, pickup points and other places fold under Other locations. Nothing is ticked for you. Tick the location your team ships from and choose Set up with its name. Floormode creates a warehouse for each ticked location and names it after it.

Later, Add Shopify locations under the list opens the same choice for the locations that are not warehouses yet.

Each warehouse row shows its steps and one button for the next one:

StepWhat you do
Link a Shopify locationOnly for a warehouse without a location: choose it on the warehouse’s Settings tab.
BinsAdd bins opens the warehouse. Add 4 bins creates a starter set in one click, or build your own on the Layout tab.
StockImport stock opens the warehouse’s Stock tab. Import into your warehouse copies what Shopify has on hand at the location into the unassigned bin. Shopify is not changed.
LiveReview and go live opens the warehouse page, where Go live checks Shopify’s quantities and then keeps them up to date for that location. See Go live.

Every step is detected from your data each time the page reads it: nothing is ticked by hand, and another person who opens the warehouse sees the same step.

Imported stock waits in the unassigned bin, and orders can be picked from there. Giving items their own bins is not a step: do it before or after going live, on the Stock tab or with Put away.

Setup works without a plan. New orders are released to the floor once you choose one: the guide says so in one line with Choose a plan, and the go-live step shows it again. On a development store, Shopify approves any plan as a free test charge. See Subscription plans.

Hide setup folds the guide into one line on Home that counts the warehouses still in setup; Continue setup brings it back. Setup never blocks the rest of the app.

When a warehouse goes live, its page says so once, with Go to Home. Home then shows your work: the open work per operation, what needs attention and recent activity, with the guide above it while other warehouses are still in setup. Packaging, a carrier, a printer and your team are optional and live under Settings.

A stuck or failed import shows Retry import on the import line. If Shopify withholds protected customer details, the guide says which details are hidden; the import still finishes.
