Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”| Permission | Used by |
|---|---|
| Read products | Stock, picking, packing, replenishment. |
| Read / write inventory | Receiving, counts, adjustments, availability sync. |
| Read orders | Orders, allocation, the fulfillment queue. |
| Write fulfillments | Packing, shipping, tracking back to Shopify. |
| Read locations | Warehouse-to-location mapping. |
| Read / write returns | Return requests, returns and return receipts. |
Nothing is switched on by the install itself. Every feature in this documentation is optional and off until you turn it on, so an existing picking, packing and receiving routine keeps working exactly as before.
In your Shopify admin or on its own
Section titled “In your Shopify admin or on its own”You can open Floormode in two ways:
- In your Shopify admin, where most office work happens.
- On its own web address, with its own sign-in. This is how floor staff without a Shopify admin account reach Floor Mode on a warehouse tablet: see Standalone access.
Both show the same pages and the same data. Only the menu around them changes: in your Shopify admin, Floormode’s pages are listed in the admin’s menu; on its own address, in Floormode’s sidebar.
First-time access
Section titled “First-time access”After install you land on Home, where the setup guide first asks which Shopify locations you pack orders from, then takes each warehouse through its steps: Bins, Stock, Live. Each step is detected from your data; the store import starts by itself on the server, and you can close the page while it runs.
Setup works without a plan. New orders are released to the floor once you choose one under Settings → Billing; on a development store, Shopify approves any plan as a free test charge. See Subscription plans.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”Uninstalling Floormode deletes your warehouse data at once: warehouses, bins, the stock in them, pick, pack and receiving history, settings, labels and other documents, and the history archive. Nothing is kept for a later reinstall.
Reinstalling starts a new, empty setup. Floormode imports your products and orders from Shopify again, and the setup guide starts from the beginning: locations, bins, stock and going live.
Your Shopify data stays as it is: products, orders, customers and the stock levels Shopify shows.
In an account with more than one store, only the last store’s uninstall deletes the warehouse data. Any other store that uninstalls leaves the account, with its orders and its archived orders, and the warehouse stays with the other stores: see When a store leaves.
