Automation

Elevate plan

Settings → Automation holds three sets of rules in one place. Each is an ordered cascade, evaluated top-down, and each keeps its own URL as a tab.

  • The three cascades
  • Ordered, top-down
  • Every cascade ends in a fallback

Order rules/settings/automationTag, hold, prioritise or alert on incoming orders.
Order routing/settings/order-routingWhich location or dropship vendor ships each order.
Shipping rules/settings/shipping-rulesWhich carrier and service a shipment is rated and bought with.

Order rules act the moment an order arrives — tag an order over a value threshold, hold anything to a flagged address, prioritise an express service, alert someone on a first-time high-value customer.

Order routing picks the origin, including ship-from-store. Dropship vendors are supported as a destination: a routed dropship order sends the vendor a purchase order by email.

Shipping rules pick the service: the cheapest rate, a preferred carrier per country, or the cheapest non-express service where the fast option is not worth its price.

Beside them, the Checkout options tab maps each shipping option your customers choose at checkout to a carrier service. A mapped option wins over the shipping rules: see Checkout options.

All three are evaluated in order, and the first rule that matches wins. That makes them predictable: to understand why an order got a given outcome, you read down the list until you hit the first match.

Each of the three ends in a fallback rule, so nothing is ever left without a destination. An order that matches no routing rule still gets an origin; a shipment that matches no shipping rule still gets a service.

This is what stops automation from producing stuck records. A cascade that could fail to decide would silently strand orders — instead the fallback always decides, and you can see which rule did it.
