Standalone access & your team

Floormode runs in two places: embedded inside your Shopify admin, and standalone in a normal browser tab. Standalone access is made for the people who work in the app all day but have no reason to hold a Shopify staff account: pickers, packers, receivers.

When you install Floormode, it creates an organization for your company, with P&H accounts as the sign-in outside Shopify, or connects the P&H organization you already run. Where an invitation is needed, the first person to open Floormode from the Shopify admin, normally the store owner, gets one by email; accept it once, and you can sign in at the app’s own web address with an email and password (or single sign-on), no Shopify login involved.

Both doors lead to the same app and the same data. There is nothing to keep in sync and no separate “standalone version”: a pick recorded in a browser tab shows up in the embedded app at once, and the other way round.

Everyone you bring in joins your company’s team and works in your warehouses: orders, inventory, floor work. One account can hold several Shopify stores; see Stores. Someone who signs in without belonging to an organization sees a screen saying so instead of data, never someone else’s warehouse. Someone whose sign-in has no Floormode role yet sees You have no Floormode role yet until an Admin gives them one.

  1. Open Settings → Team.
  2. For someone who works only on the floor, choose Add floor person: they need no email, just a PIN or a badge.
  3. For someone who should sign in with an email, choose Invite, pick their role and warehouses, and send it. Inviting needs your own P&H account.
  4. Once they accept, they sign in directly: no Shopify account needed.

Shopify staff who open Floormode from the Shopify admin are on the team too, with the role set under Settings → Team → Defaults. The team always keeps at least one active Admin, so it can never lock itself out.

  • Admin: everything, including integrations, customer data requests, billing, the API, stores and roles.
  • Manager: all the desk work and settings except those six; adds and invites people as Floor.
  • Floor: Floor Mode only (pick, pack, receive, count and move stock).

Admins can also make roles of their own, such as a lead who approves floor exceptions. A person’s warehouses decide where they work on the floor, not what they see at the desk. Team, roles & floor devices has the details, including floor devices, PINs and badges.

Embedded: open Floormode from your Shopify admin’s Apps section, as always. Standalone: visit the app’s web address and sign in with the email your invitation was sent to. If your company uses single sign-on, the same screen offers it. Floor people sign in on a floor device with their PIN or badge.
