Run Floormode with Logistified and Assemblified

This page is for whoever sets the three apps up on a shop — often a merchant’s developer, on one afternoon. Each app keeps its own job: Logistified buys, Assemblified plans what gets built, Floormode runs the warehouse — every bin, every pick, every receipt. Follow the steps in order; each one says where to click and how to tell it worked.

  • Install the apps
  • Set up your warehouses and go live
  • Connect Logistified
  • Hand receiving over, location by location
  • Connect Assemblified
  • Packaging and inserts
  • Lots and best-before dates
  • Pick the earliest expiry first
  • Who updates which Shopify quantity

Install all three on the same Shopify shop, Floormode first. Logistified and Assemblified only connect to a Floormode installed on their own shop, so with Floormode in place the other two can be installed in either order.

Each app needs an active plan of its own. Floormode reads the other apps’ install and plan state; it never changes it.

Before you connect anything, Floormode has to be the warehouse of record:

  1. In Settings → Warehouses, map each warehouse to the Shopify location it ships from. Documents from the other apps are routed by Shopify location, so a warehouse without a location receives nothing.

  2. Set up its bins and its opening stock — the warehouse page’s setup guide walks you through both.

  3. Click Go live on the warehouse page. From then on Floormode keeps that location’s Shopify quantities up to date.

Connecting Logistified is refused while a receiving warehouse is not live, and an Assemblified work order for a warehouse that is not live is refused too — so this step comes first.

  1. In Floormode, open Settings → Integrations → Apps and switch Logistified on.

  2. In Logistified, open Settings → Integrations and switch the Floormode connection on there.

  3. Back in Floormode, the status reads Connected, no exchange yet. Raise a small purchase order in Logistified and confirm it: it appears in Inventory → Receiving as an expected delivery, and the status turns Connected.

From now on goods are booked in here, and only here. See Logistified for what travels each way.

Receiving moves to Floormode per Shopify location, through an agreement driven from Logistified’s Settings → Integrations:

  1. Prepare. Choose the locations in Logistified. Nothing changes yet; Logistified checks each one and says which are ready.

  2. Go live in Floormode. A location is only ready when its Floormode warehouse is live. Logistified names any that are not; go live on their warehouse pages here.

  3. Activate. Commit the agreement in Logistified. It is all or nothing: one location that is not ready refuses the whole set, and nothing changes.

The Activity tab of Floormode’s Settings → Integrations then lists every location as received here or received by Logistified. The details are in Who writes Shopify.

  1. In Floormode, Settings → Integrations → Apps: switch Assemblified on.

  2. In Assemblified, Settings → Integrations: connect Floormode there.

  3. In Assemblified, make a work orderWork orderAn instruction to build something — the document in Assemblified that names what is being made, how many, and which components it consumes, and which asks Floormode to pick those components. Read more → ready to build at a live warehouse’s location. Its components appear on the Floor home as a Production pick, the work order shows on Fulfillment → Production, and the status turns Connected.

When a build finishes, Floormode books the finished goods at once onto the warehouse’s workbench bin, WO-STAGE-01, and a put-away task brings them to a shelf, as after a delivery to the dock. An output that needs the receiver — serial numbers taken at receiving, or a date Floormode cannot work out — waits on its receipt instead. See Assemblified and Hamper batches and recall below.

Assemblified and Logistified also connect to each other, in Assemblified’s Settings → Integrations, so Logistified can forecast the materials your builds use. That link does not involve Floormode.

Boxes, tissue, ribbons and recipe cards are not things you sell, so they should not be Shopify products. Create them in Assemblified as virtual materials and put them on the recipe.

Once Assemblified is connected, they arrive in Floormode as local itemsLocal itemA good you stock and move in Floormode that does not exist on Shopify — an Assemblified raw material or sub-assembly, or a Logistified custom item — recognisable by an id starting `VMAT-`, `ASM-` or `CSTM-`. Read more → , ids starting VMAT- — listed under Inventory → Stock → More stock actions → Item setup and recovery. From then on they live in Floormode’s bins like any stock:

  • Receive them here. A Logistified purchase order for a virtual material arrives in Inventory → Receiving as an expected receipt, like any purchase order: receive the delivery on it. Without a purchase order, use New receipt or a blind receipt.
  • They are picked with the work order’s components into its staging bin, WO-STAGE-01, and leave stock when Assemblified reports the build that used them, not when the pick completes.
  • They never appear on Shopify. Nobody writes a Shopify number for them, by design.
  • Track a batch where it matters. Open the item from Item setup and recovery (its name is a link to the item) and set its Tracking to Lot. Its batches then join the hamper batch’s record below, so a recall reaches them too. Give it a best-before only if the packaging really carries one — an undated box is still traced.

Floormode holds their stock once the Assemblified status reads Local stock active. Until then Assemblified keeps its own count.

Turn lot tracking on for every ingredient that carries a date, and for the finished product too:

  1. Open the item’s page and find its Tracking card.

  2. Choose Lot — a lot number and date at receive.

  3. Set Date on the lot to Best before, and switch on Date is required so nothing is booked in without one.

Receiving then asks for the lot number and the date of every delivery, and Inventory → Lots shows each lot with its stock. A GS1 barcode that carries a best-before (15) or an expiry (17) fills the date for you. For the finished product, Floormode sets the batch number and the date itself — see below.

FEFOFEFOFirst expired, first out: allocating the shortest-dated stock first so perishable goods leave before they expire. A per-warehouse policy on every plan. Read more → is on every plan. Switch on Pick the earliest expiry first for each warehouse in Settings → Warehouses: sales orders then take the lot with the soonest date first, so short-dated stock leaves before it goes out of date. A blocked or expired lot is never picked, FEFO or not.

Work-order component picks follow the same rule, packaging included: the pick list names the lot that expires first, and the floor scans it.

Exactly one app writes each Shopify number. Floormode shows the split in effect right now under Settings → Integrations → Activity → Who updates Shopify:

QuantityWritten by
Received goods (purchase orders, transfers)Floormode — receiving happens here
Sales picks and fulfilmentsFloormode, always
Work-order componentsFloormode — the warehouse picks them
Finished goods: a plain stocked bundle, or one sold only preassembledFloormode — the putaway writes it
Finished goods: a dynamic availability or fixed inventory level bundleAssemblified — the number is calculated, not counted
Packaging, inserts and other local itemsNobody — they are not on Shopify

The table names Assemblified or Logistified only while that app is installed on the shop; until then it reads Nobody until … is installed. A row that reads Nobody in red is a gap that needs a live warehouse — see Who writes Shopify.

Floormode, Logistified and Assemblified use the same words for the same state, and each state carries one sentence saying what to do. On Floormode’s Settings → Integrations → Apps:

StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
Not installedThe app is not installed on this shop.Install it, then come back here.
Not available yetThe other app does not offer the connection yet — it opens with that app’s update — so the switch here cannot be turned on (a switch that is already on can still be turned off).Nothing else is needed. The other app tells Floormode when its own page is opened, so opening its Settings → Integrations (Alertified: opening Alertified) checks again.
OffYour switch here is off.Switch on to start.
Waiting for the other appYour switch is on; the other app’s is not, or it refuses.Open that app’s Settings → Integrations and switch on there (Alertified: open Alertified and switch Floormode on there).
Connected, no exchange yetBoth switches are on; nothing has travelled yet.Send the first document: a purchase order from Logistified, a work order from Assemblified.
ConnectedA message went through and was confirmed.Nothing. The line shows when the last one arrived.
Local stock activeFloormode now holds the other app’s local stock.Nothing.
Not answeringDeliveries are paused after repeated failures.Nothing is lost; Floormode keeps trying. Check connection says whether the app can be reached.
Handing backLocal stock is being returned to the other app.Wait for the other app to confirm; the switch turns itself off then.
UninstalledThe other app was removed from this shop.Switch this off, or reinstall it.

One batch per work order. When Assemblified reports a finished build, Floormode books the hampers onto the workbench bin under their batch: the work order’s number, for example WO-1042, with its best-before. Set the hamper to Lot with Best before (as above) — a hamper that tracks no lots gets no batch.

The best-before is the earliest of its ingredients. A batch is best before the earliest best-before of any ingredient or packaging lot its work order used. Floormode works it out when the hampers are booked. If it later learns that an earlier-dated lot went in — a component picked after the booking, say — the date moves earlier and you get a Batch date moved earlier alert telling you to relabel. A date never moves later, so a printed label is never too optimistic.

Tracing works both ways. A batch’s lot page shows Made from: every ingredient and packaging lot that went in. An ingredient’s lot page shows Went into: every batch made from it, with what each still holds. From a batch, Export affected orders and the shipments list name the orders that got it — ingredient → batch → orders.

  1. Open the ingredient’s lot and choose Block lot.

  2. The dialog lists the hamper batches made from it that still hold stock. Tick Also block the … hamper batches that contain it to block them in the same step, with the same reason. Leave it unticked to block the ingredient alone.

  3. Unblocking the ingredient later leaves the batches blocked: a batch may contain a second blocked ingredient. Unblock each one from its own page.

The put-away task then brings the hampers to a shelf and asks which lot it moves: scan or type the batch number as it stands, WO-1042, without a leading #. If another lot of the hamper already carries the work order’s number (booked by hand before, say), Floormode refuses the booking: rename that lot in Floormode, then complete the run again. A hamper whose date is required but cannot be worked out — a use-by, or a best-before with no dated ingredient — waits on its receipt instead, where the receiver books it with the date.
