Customer privacy requests

Shopify forwards two kinds of privacy requests: a customer asks for their data, or asks for it to be erased. Floormode lists them with a deadline and prepares the export; sending it is your step.

  • Where requests come from
  • Deadlines
  • Download the export
  • Review before you send
  • Send the response securely
  • Mark the request completed

The customer asks Shopify; Shopify tells every installed app. Requests appear under Settings → Privacy with the customer and the date.

Each request shows the date by which a response is due. Requests past their deadline are listed first.

The export holds every record Floormode has for that customer: orders, shipments, returns, notes. Download it from the request’s row.

Read the export before it leaves. Remove anything that belongs to another person, and add data you hold outside Floormode.

Floormode does not send the export by itself. Deliver it to the requester over a channel you trust, never as a plain attachment to an unverified address.

Confirm that you reviewed the export and sent it. The request is recorded as completed with your name and the time.

An erasure removes the customer’s personal details from Floormode’s records while keeping the order history anonymised. It runs by itself once Shopify’s own grace period has passed.
